Episode 27 - The Transition Era

The first "almost all good music" episode. These records date mostly to my first few months living in San Diego, clearly documenting the rise of smooth pop and fall of the anything-with-a-harpsichord dream. Also note the horrible technical difficulties due to the amateurish state (no headphones!) of the KSDT studios.

Episode 26 - Exit the Stacks

This marks the end of records pulled from "the stacks" which are actually just these shelves in my room that I made face each other so that when you walk in between them it feels claustrophobic and stuffy. Needless to say, I'm lazy and don't refile records very frequently, so most of the records in the stacks hadn't seen the turntable in quite some time. The rest of this journey (starting with the last song in this episode!) will now be focused on more contemporary finds/loves and records that I've actually listened to once or twice in the last 3 years. Hold on to you horse.

Episode 25 - Tall Cool One

Within this episode I describe how to open shrinkwrapped records just like a real DJ. I play my favourite "old" record. Waxing about the pre-internet era finally manifests its critical mass with the comment "the internet ruined music".

Episode 24 - Special Mystery Geust [sic]

Keyvan joins me to analyze my life through my record collection, but mostly just says stuff about the way I dress. Musically, this episode has some pretty rough cuts and also features one of the first records I ever bought (The Ventures!).

P.S. Saying that the Venture made music "safe for dads" should be credited to this guy who was friends with this Montreal/McGill hip dude Christophe. Tim and I went to a party at his house once and he said it while dancing to the Ventures in Space LP.

Episode 23 - Talking to my future self

Suddenly this audio archive becomes self aware!!! I talk to myself 40 years in the future trying to influence the outcome of to be determined events/memories! Also, the audio is TERRIBLE due to the new KSDT studio set up. Basically, unless you're me and the year is 2050, then don't bother listening to this episode!!!

Episode 22 - Return of the Bad One.

After 10 weeks of sitting around and crying myself to sleep every night, the journey resumes. This comeback special came with the amazing reminder of how crappy KSDT really is - now with only ONE functioning turntable! Luckily, as you will hear below, years of home Hi-fi DJing to myself have prepared me for this moment.
